Aaron Rodgers has sports media abuzz on Tuesday after posting a cryptic Instagram post in which he thanked current and former teammates. ESPN’s Seth Greenberg hosted senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler on Get Up to react to the post. Fowler shared that he has the latest from Green Bay and how they’re handling the situation.

“I was told the Packers are planning for both scenarios right now,” Fowler said. They remain confident that Rodgers will come back to them because they think that they give him the best chance to win, but they’re preparing for life with him and life without him because they truly don’t know.”

Fowler and Greenberg acknowledged that given Aaron Rodgers’ tendency to surprise, he may decide at any moment to announce a decision. It could even be on the Pat McAfee Show where he makes regular appearances.

“They don’t even know how they’re going to inform them of his plans. It might be on the Pat McAfee Show, it might be via phone or on Instagram. So, they’re sort of waiting. I was told that the retirement thing is not something they’re sleeping on either. They know that that’s on the table for him. It could be a factor here. He said at the end of the year that all options are on the table and they don’t think that’s any sort lip service. Three options: you stay, you ask for a trade, or you retire.”

Aaron Rodgers cryptic in new Instagram post

Based on his recent Instagram post, there’s reason to believe Aaron Rodgers is nearing an announcement on his future.

All eyes are on Rodgers’ decision for next season — if he’ll stay in Green Bay, play for another team or retire from football. He penned a lengthy post late Monday night expressing gratitude along with 10 photos, and while the message was one of thanks, it almost seemed like there was another meaning behind it.

The first included an interesting passage: “Gratitude is the wine for the soul. Go on. Get drunk.”

The post comes as people question what’s next for Rodgers, who just won his fourth MVP award. It’s a big offseason ahead for the Packers, who lost in the NFC Divisional Round to the San Francisco 49ers this past season.

“To my teammates, past and current, you are the icing on the beautiful cake we call our job; football,” Rodgers continued. “The friendships that we have will transcend our collective time in this game and I am so thankful for the role that each of you have played in making my life that much better. I love you guys, and cherish the memories we’ve made.

“To everyone else, Spread love and gratitude you beautiful people, and read a book once in a while too while you’re at it. Love and peace.”
