Ahead of his foray into free agency this offseason, NFL wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. posted a video of a workout to show off his progress back to 100% following his ACL tear almost a year ago.

The video, posted to his Instagram story with the caption “Progress is progress,” shows the former Rams and Giants star sprinting off of the line, cutting, making a catch, and taking off down the field. It’s a 10-second clip but it’s sure to catch the attention of teams looking for veteran assistance for 2023.

The Dallas Cowboys were close to bringing Beckham in ahead of their playoff run, which lasted two games. The Cowboys even had him fly out to Dallas for a very public visit. However, they determined he wouldn’t be able to significantly contribute in the postseason and, ultimately, signed former Colts veteran T.Y. Hilton instead.

“It’s not realistic to think about having him in a meaningful way for the playoffs,” Jones said of OBJ in late December, via Jon Machota. “Now, that’s not dismissing the future.”

The Cowboys certainly have a need for pass catchers, especially with Hilton, Noah Brown and Dalton Schultz also heading toward free agency. Although CeeDee Lamb performed admirably in 2022, posting the best numbers of his career yet, Dak Prescott’s lack of star-power assets proved costly in the playoff loss versus the 49ers.

After Beckham’s workout video found its way onto Twitter, the wideout commented, “I swear I’m loadin…. Nowhere near I wanna be but exactly where I need to be.”

In 2021, with the Rams, Beckham had 305 yards on 27 catches with five touchdowns in eight games played. Prior to his trade, he also had 232 yards on 17 catches for the Browns.
