Everything fell into place on Sunday for Odell Beckham Jr. Despite missing half of the Super Bowl with a knee injury, Beckham finally got his championship ring after eight seasons in the NFL. His immediate reaction to the win was full of waterworks but the former LSU star took to Twitter shortly after the celebration as well.

Beckham tweeted, “THIS WAS EXACTLY GODS PLAN.”

He finished the Super Bowl with two receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown. The journey to the championship all began with a fated mid-season trade from the Cleveland Browns. That trade, along with the Rams’ other moves to add Von Miller and Matthew Stafford, all led to the Rams’ first Super Bowl win in Los Angeles. They took down the Bengals 23-20 despite a couple of offensive misfires from Stafford.

In eight games leading up to the big game, Beckham compiled 27 catches for 305 yards and five touchdowns. He set a season-high in the NFC Championship with nine catches for 113 yards.

Beckham pours out emotions after winning Super Bowl 56

Just seconds after the clock hit zero, NBC cut to an Odell Beckham Jr. in street clothes on the sideline. Even though he missed the entire second half with a knee injury, you could see how much finally getting a Super Bowl championship meant to him. He was in tears while embracing fellow midseason acquisition Von Miller on the sidelines.

With the Browns, he had just seven touchdowns across two and a half seasons. He arely eclipsed 2,000 yards receiving across 29 games. After that struggle with Cleveland all season, Beckham Jr. got himself out and sign with the competitor of his choice. Working with Stafford and Sean McVay ended up being the right decision. Beckham will now be able to wear a Super Bowl ring on his finger for the rest of his life.

Beckham caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, the first of the game, notching his seventh touchdown of the season for L.A. The touchdown gave the former LSU standout the record for most scores with a team other than the one he started the season with. He passed Dallas Cowboys wideout Amari Cooper who had six in 2018 after leaving the Raiders.

The former first-rounder joined the Rams in November after getting waived by the Cleveland Browns. The three-time Pro Bowler signed a one-year deal worth up to $4.25 million. He earned a $1 million bonus for winning the Super Bowl on Sunday night.
