Peyton Manning is set to be inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Sunday, but that doesn’t mean he’s not cracking jokes about it.

He was on former NFL wide receiver Brandon Stokely’s podcast earlier this week. Manning and Stokely were very close teammates when they played for the Broncos and Colts. Manning was joking with Stokely on the podcast about getting his massive forehead sculpted. You can listen to the podcast episode here.

“As far as the bust, I flew to Utah and had to sit with this guy for about seven hours,” Manning said.  “I don’t know if mine took longer because of my big forehead, Stoke? Or if seven hours is the norm.

“It’s a lot of forehead and a lot of neck that they had to incorporate and it’s a lot more clay, but seven hours, it’s a long time. I remember in the first 30 minutes, the sculptor, he’s a great guy, but he’s like, ‘so, when you were calling an audible, what were you looking for there.’

“I was like, ‘wow, I don’t know if I can handle seven hours of this.’  I told the guy, I said, ‘Blair, listen, I’m content to sit here for seven hours in total silence.’”

Manning and Stokely

Just how close were Peyton Manning and Brandon Stokely? Stokely once skipped his 10th wedding anniversary with his wife to watch hoops with Peyton, according to Jon Heath of BroncosWire.

Below is the tweet from Stokely.

Tom Brady coming to HOF ceremony

Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady is coming to watch Manning’s Hall of Fame induction on Sunday, according to the Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud. The five-time NFL MVP is attending Manning’s induction into football immortality on Sunday, Aug. 8. The Bucs will have the day off from practice that day, so Brady will be making the trip from Tampa, Florida, to Canton, Ohio.

Career accolades

Peyton Manning is widely considered as one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game. He currently ranks third on the NFL’s all-time passing yardage list with 71,940 passing yards. The future Hall of Famer also ranks fourth on the NFL’s all-time pass completions list with 6,125.

The former Tennessee Volunteer ranks third among the NFL’s all-time passing touchdown leaders with 539. He was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player five times (2003, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2013). The New Orleans native also won two Super Bowl trophies in his legendary NFL career.
