Even with another NFC East crown, the Dallas Cowboys once again came up short. Their season ended in the Wild Card round with a 23-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The loss ended an up and down season that started at 6-1 but ended 6-5. With an explosive offense and an improved defense, some believed last season could have been Dallas’ best postseason opportunity in a few years. In order to get another shot in 2022, former NFL QB Robert Griffin III shared how he thinks the Cowboys can contend.

Griffin saw how great the Dallas offense was last season. They led the NFL in yards with 6,919. With 31.2 points per game, they led the league in scoring as well. Dak Presott, Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper and the rest of their cast were efficient on that side of the football in 2021.

In Griffin’s eyes, it’s all about the offensive line. Veterans like Zack Martin and Tyron Smith will be key in ensuring that that position group maintains the standard Dallas is used to from that spot. Meanwhile, Tyler Biadasz, Terrence Steele and Tyler Smith will have to follow their lead as they look to build on their NFL careers.

The Cowboys have all the pieces in place to continue to make runs at the postseason. They have weapons on offense, they return pieces from a Top-10 defense from last year, and a staff in place that can get them over the hump. If they can capitalize on those strengths, they will have another opportunity to compete in 2022. Add in Griffin’s expectation for the offensive line and they may even evolve into a contender.
