Two of the best golfers in the world faced off in a playoff on Sunday. Sam Burns and Scottie Scheffler replayed the 18th hole at the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth to compete for the title. Even though the two had played completely different in the final round, the ending was one of the best on Tour this season.

Burns hit his approach shot off the green, setting up for a difficult third shot. Even though he was not on the green, Burns decided to pull out his putter and attempt to roll it in. His plan worked to perfection, draining the 38-footer. Even Scheffler was impressed with the effort, saying “good putt” and he walked past Burns.

You can watch the full moment here.

Burns was first to go, giving Scheffler the opportunity to level the playoff up and head back to play another hole. However, despite a good effort, Scheffler’s putt was just a bit to the right and Burns was crowned the winner of the Charles Schwab Challenge.

When the playoff began, Burns had been off the golf course for a couple of hours. He was down seven shots when the day began and his final round 65 propelled him to the top of the leaderboard.

Scheffler, who was in the final group, struggled due to some tough wind conditions in Fort Worth. He shot 2-over and did not record a single birdie. Everything on the scorecard was a par, with two squares also appearing. Scheffler would have made par on the playoff hole as well if he finished it out.

Sunday marked Burns’ fourth career victory on the PGA Tour and second of the season for the former LSU golfer. He won the Valspar Championship in late March, also getting the victory via playoff. Burns now has multiple victories on the season and is climbing the FedExCup Standings.
