Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker TJ Watt put up another monster game in the team’s opener against Cincinnati. He finished with six tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack, and two pass deflections. However, he didn’t impact the game in its final moments or in overtime.

That’s because Watt left the game in the last seconds of the fourth quarter with an injury. The initial belief was a pectoral injury due to his reaction. Now, ESPN’s Adam Schefter has the latest on that injury for the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.

There’s still no official confirmation of the injury. However, Watt’s reaction coming off the field told a lot of the story. The scans at the start of the week should determine both the official injury as well as the severity of it. Even with the big win today, the diagnosis Monday will matter a ton for how the start of the Steeler’s season will go.

Steelers star TJ Watt appears to suffer injury late in game

In a wild ending to Week 1 matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals, TJ Watt left the game in the final moments with an injury. After the play, Watt was reaching around his chest and arm the entire time. From there, ESPN’s Field Yates says Watt may have revealed what the injury was through his words on the field.

Yates believes Watt said he tore his pectoral on the play as he was coming off the field.

The varying severity of the injury could determine how long Watt could potentially miss. However, it looks like it could be a several-week or several-month long injury. Either way, this is speculatory to say the least.
