Just a couple years ago, it was impossible to imagine Tom Brady ever playing for another team — let alone winning a Super Bowl for a franchise other than the New England Patriots. After doubts that he could find the same level of success he enjoyed in Foxboro in another city, Brady stomped that notion out in Tampa Bay.

Of course, perhaps the only person who takes more pride in Brady’s accomplishments is his father, Tom Brady Sr. As his son is off to a blazing start to the season, Brady Sr. joined Tom Curran’s Patriots Talk Podcast to discuss if he felt vindicated by Brady’s performance last season.

“Damn right. Damn right. Belichick wanted him off the door, and last year he threw 56 touchdowns,” said Brady Sr. “I think that’s a pretty good year.”

Additionally, Brady’s father was asked if he believes that the Buccaneers quarterback felt vindicated by his latest Super Bowl run as well.

“Damn right,” stated Brady Sr., concisely and to the point.

Evidently, Brady doesn’t just want to quell doubts. He wants to shoot them so far into the sun that nobody ever doubts him again. After six Super Bowl victories, it was seemingly obvious the type of player he was entering free agency.

Now possessing seven Super Bowl rings, only one thing remains on Brady’s mind — the eighth.

Brady Sr.: ‘He’s more than happy he’s moved on’

While it was once unimaginable, Brady is now in the midst of his second season as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. His legacy may always put him in a Patriots uniform, but his father believes Brady is more than happy to have moved on.

“My feeling is that Tommy is extraordinarily appreciative of that happened during his New England career,” stated Brady Sr. “And he’s more than happy that he’s moved on.

“It was pretty obvious that the Patriot regime felt like it was time for him to move on. Frankly, it may well have been the perfect time for Belichick to move on from him. On the other hand, I think the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are happy that they didn’t want to afford him or didn’t want to keep him when his last contract came up.”

As the old saying goes, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. While it’s not the perfect analogy — Brady certainly wasn’t trash with New England, but Tampa Bay has found their treasure in the Seven-time Super Bowl Champion.

Once a franchise middling in mediocrity, Brady has taken the Buccaneers to new heights. A premier team in the NFL, the former Michigan quarterback changed the course of the franchise in just one season.

No matter how great of a football mind Bill Belichick is, the victory goes to the Brady family in this matter.
