Sunday’s matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Chicago Bears will be a historic one. Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is in the middle of his 22nd NFL season, but he has never faced off against a former Ohio State quarterback. Brady, who played collegiately at Michigan, knows a thing or two about the rivalry between the two Big Ten rivals.

When the Buccaneers and Bears face off on Sunday, Justin Fields will become the first Ohio State quarterback to start against Brady. Ahead of the game, Brady took some time to take a subtle shot at Ohio State.

“I’m not going to say anything too inflammatory about Ohio State,” Brady said to reporters on Thursday. “I’ll have my time. That’s interesting. Why aren’t there more Ohio State quarterbacks in the pros? A lot of Michigan guys over the years but not a lot of Ohio State guys.”

Brady has been in the NFL for the majority of the life of Fields

As Brady is still going strong in his 22nd NFL season, his career started just months after Fields was born. Now, the two are set to face off against one another. On the season, Brady has completed 68.5 percent of his passes, which would be the second highest mark of his career. He has thrown for 2,064 yards, 17 touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Fields, meanwhile, is still getting used to life as a starting quarterback in the NFL. In six games, Fields has completed 53 of his 99 pass attempts for 632 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. He also has 102 yards and a rushing touchdown on the ground.

Brady saw success against Ohio State while at Michigan, going 3-1 against the Buckeyes. Since Brady went to the NFL, though, the Buckeyes have a 17-3 edge in the series. But Brady is looking to defeat the Buckeyes yet again on Sunday against Fields.

The Buccaneers currently sit at the top of the NFC South with a 5-1 record. Chicago, though, is 3-3 and tied for second in the NFC North. Kickoff for Sunday’s game is set for 4:25 p.m. ET in Tampa Bay.
