The Miami Dolphins made a big splash in the offseason, acquiring speedy wide receiver Tyreek Hill in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs. In Hill, the Dolphins are getting one of the best downfield offensive weapons in the league. After acquiring Hill, though, many wondered whether or not he would be a great fit with Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

On Tuesday, Hill shut down any of the concerns regarding Tagovailoa, who has been criticized due to his arm strength, or as some view it, the lack thereof. The two have gotten off to a good start this offseason, though, and Hill said that he is “very confident” in his new quarterback entering the season.

“Tua actually has one of the prettiest balls I’ve ever caught him in my life,” Hill said, via NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe. “Tua is a very accurate QB. I’m very confident in my QB… the sky is the limit for that guy. Heck of a talent. Has crazy arm strength, arm talent.”

Hill hopes to continue strong start to NFL career with Tagovailoa throwing to him

Since joining the NFL in 2016, Hill has had at least 1,183 receiving yards four times. He has made the Pro Bowl in every one of his six seasons, and has 56 touchdowns over the course of his career. Hill did have Patrick Mahomes, one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks, throwing him the ball, though.

The Dolphins selected Tagovailoa with the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He started nine games in 2020 as a rookie, leading Miami to a 6-3 record. As a rookie, Tagovailoa completed 64.1% of his passes, throwing for 1,814 yards with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions. Last season, he was 7-5 in 12 starts, and completed 67.8% of his passes while throwing for 2,653 yards with 16 touchdowns and ten interceptions.

Hill isn’t the only new face with the Dolphins that is supporting Tagovailoa, as new head coach Mike McDaniel has not been shy about sharing his support for his new quarterback.

“I’m really excited because the guy has some skills that are untapped and I think it’s important you empower the quarterback with the rest of the players around him and the scheme you bring forth,” McDaniel said. “I think his best days are in front of him and that’s a really cool piece of the part of being the head coach.”
