Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is recapturing some of the magic he used to help the LSU Tigers win the National Championship in 2019. On a third-and-four from the Las Vegas Raiders 10-yard line, the former LSU Tiger connected with Tyler Boyd for the touchdown. But what made the play colder than the temperatures in Saturday’s game was the ease of the pass made as Burrow was drifting out of bounds.

However, as retired NFL official and member of the NBC crew calling the game, Terry McAulay, explained on-air that touchdown should not have counted. Because of an erroneous whistle blown by one of the officials on the field, the play should have been ruled dead. And as a result, the play should have been replayed because of the whistle being blown. Fortunately for the Bengals and their fans, that was not the ruling that was made, resulting in Cincinnati going up 20-6.

Currently, the Bengals lead the Raiders 20-13 at the half. Since Cincinnati deferred on the coin toss, they will start the second half with the ball and the potential to expand their lead yet again.

LSU gets former Virginia linebacker

A former Virginia linebacker committed to transferring to LSU on Saturday, giving the Tigers a young player that played 11 games as a true freshman. West Weeks committed to LSU via an announcement on Twitter shortly after an official visit to the campus.

“Thankful! Let’s work! #GeauxTigers,” read Weeks’ official announcement.

The 6-2, 220-pound linebacker made an immediate contribution for the Cavaliers as a true freshman. Appearing in 11 games, Weeks recorded 31 tackles, one tackle for a loss, a sack and five passes defended.

A native of Georgia, Weeks attended the same high school as former LSU quarterback Max Johnson and Jake Johnson. In the year after Johnson joined LSU, Weeks helped lead Oconee County to the Class AAA semifinals. In his 2020 senior season, he had 91 total tackles, a forced fumble and one interception.

Weeks chose LSU over South Carolina, having visited both campuses ahead of his decision. Weeks will now be a member of the new-look LSU Tigers as they prepare for head coach Brian Kelly’s first year at the helm.
