In the third quarter trailing by 11, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson jumped to throw a ball over defenders to Marquise Brown for the touchdown. The athletic touchdown brought the Ravens back to within four points after a quick touchdown to start the half for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Lamar Jackson to Marquise Brown

On third down, Jackson dropped back to pass from the shotgun. With nobody open initially, the pocket collapsed around him and Jackson was forced to step up to the line. With defenders pushing the line into him, Jackson jumped to get above their heads and hit Brown wide open in the middle of the field for a 42-yard touchdown.

The touchdown was Jackson’s first of the night in a game where he had two interceptions prior.

Following an overtime loss on Monday night against the Las Vegas Raiders the week before, the Ravens were in another primetime battle against the Chiefs. Jackson has played against Mahomes three times before Sunday’s game, and Jackson has lost all three matchups.

After losing to the Chiefs last season, Jackson called the Chiefs their “kryptonite” following the loss. Despite their past troubles with the Chiefs, Jackson entered their Sunday night game ready to flip the script. The big third quarter connection between Jackson and Brown helped put them in better position to do so.

“I said that because they did beat us three times,” Jackson said about his kryptonite comments, via NFL.com. “So it’s like, ‘Man, we’ve got to find a way to win.’ And hopefully this Sunday night coming up it will be different.”

Ray Lewis in the building

Coming onto the field before the game began, Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis ignited the crowd with his signature dance he used to perform coming out of the tunnel.

As the Baltimore crowd reveled in Lewis’ appearance, even the opposing quarterback couldn’t help but get excited. The camera cut to Mahomes watching on the bench and screaming along with the crowd.

Lewis’ presence was sure to have an impact as the game started on a Baltimore crowd looking for their first win of the season, as well as Mahomes and the Chiefs as they continue their mission to reach the Super Bowl again.
