Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce has had one big question to answer this offseason: Will he retire? He answered that question in brilliant fashion on Thursday.

The Eagles posted a video on Twitter of Kelce pouring a beer and talking about his big decision. He confirmed he’s made a decision — and he is, in fact, retiring. But not from football.

“Got a lot of questions on the air yesterday about my future, so I decided I’d clear it up right now,” Kelce said. “Fortunately, I’ve decided to announce that I am retiring from hosting [on] WIP. But I’m definitely not retiring from playing for the Philadelphia Eagles. I’m having way too much fun doing that. Looking forward to another year, Philadelphia. To all my teammates: Let’s go dominate.”

That, friends, is how you make an announcement.

Yes, Kelce’s returning tot he Eagles next year. However, it sounds like he won’t become a regular on WIP-FM 94.1 might not be continuing. He guest-hosted the station’s morning show on Wednesday, but didn’t share a decision regarding his future.

Kelce just wrapped up his 11th NFL season in 2021, all with the Eagles. Philadelphia drafted him in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft after an impressive career at Cincinnati. While there, he became a two-time second team All-Big East selection in 2009 and 2010. With the Eagles, Kelce has made five Pro Bowls and became a four-time first team All-Pro nominee. He also was a big factor in Philadelphia’s first-ever Super Bowl title in 2018, a 41-33 win over the New England Patriots.

Philadelphia is coming off a 9-8 2021 campaign under first-year coach Nick Sirianni. The Eagles have plenty of young talent returning to the roster next season, including quarterback Jalen Hurts and Devonta Smith, who formed quite a bond this past season. Hurts is now getting an idea of who’ll be protecting him on the offensive line after Kelce’s announcement.
