Tyrann Mathieu is off to a great start tonight in the Baltimore-Kansas City game on Sunday Night Football.

Watch the video below as he picks off Lamar Jackson and returns the interception for a touchdown early in the first quarter.

The touchdown score made the game 6-0. Kansas City lost to Baltimore, 35-36 in a classic contest.

Mathieu also had his second interception of the first quarter on a pass by Lamar Jackson to the end zone.

Check out the video below.

Mathieu was recently ranked 58th on the NFL’s list of the Top 100 players for the 2020 season.

The former LSU standout was inactive last week against the Cleveland Browns.

The Chiefs need his coverage skills in the secondary if they wish to reach the Super Bowl. The Chiefs are heavy favorites to reach the 2022 Super Bowl, thanks to the ultra-accurate arm of Patrick Mahomes, the mind-blowing speed of Tyreek Hill, and the excellent hands of tight end Travis Kelce.

Mathieu NFL career

This year is Mathieu’s ninth year in the National Football League. So far, he has 25 interceptions for his entire pro football career. Coverage wise, he posted some of the best numbers of his career in 2020, picking off six passes for the Chiefs, including one pick six. He now has three pick sixes in his NFL career. He played his first five seasons in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals, then played one season with the Texans, and the previous two with the Chiefs.

LSU career

Nicknamed “The Honey Badger”, Mathieu was one of the best players in college football, regardless of position during his time at LSU. In 2011, he was invited to New York City as a Heisman Trophy finalist, becoming the first LSU player to be a finalist since Charles Alexander in 1977. Mathieu was also named the 2011 SEC Defensive Player of the Year. A constant ball-hawk, Mathieu led the SEC in forced fumbles with six and fumble recoveries with five. His 421 punt return yards on 21 attempts finished as the sixth-highest yardage total in LSU football history.
