For Bengals star Ja’Marr Chase, sometimes an emotional rant can morph into a punchy social media post, which then can be packaged as a marketing campaign.

That’s how 7-11 started selling a special Ja’Marr Chase pendant. Cause Chase, like the iconic convenience store, is always open.

So, would you wear this necklace and pendant, know a special Bengals player inspired it? Take a look at the (faux) jewels.

It all started when Ja’Marr Chase complained in Bengals post game press conference

So here’s how it all unfolded. Let’s go back to earlier this month, when the Titans embarrassed the Bengals, 27-3. Chase caught seven passes for 73 yards. And in the post-game, when reporters asked him what’s up with the Bengals offense, he complained about not having enough passes thrown his way. In other words, he was “always (expletive) open.”

The next game, a 34-20 win over the Cardinals, Chase and the Bengals looked more like their truly offensive selves. Chase caught a franchise record 15 passes for 192 yards and scored a trio of touchdowns.

Then sometime after the game, Ja’Marr Chase gave 7-11 a shoutout. He was still open. Obviously, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow rediscovered that fact as well.

As it turned out, Chase already had the 7-11 photo planned. He said as much when the cameras focused on him when Chase was on the Bengals sidelines. He’d caught this third TD pass.

“Oh I’m doing it. Right after the game,” Chase said. “Twitter, I’mma post ‘7-Eleven, Always Open.'” Then teammate Tee Higgins helped with the impromptu social media brainstorming session.

“You ain’t even gotta post nothing else. You put ‘7-Eleven’ as the caption,” Higgins offered.

The Chase tweet since has picked up more than 5 million views. That’s viral. And it’s apparently a good marketing idea for a convenience store. You can grab a Big Gulp and a Ja’Marr Chase pendant next time you’re in the store.

Chase wore the pendant during the Bengals game against the Seahawks. Then 7-11 dropped its “Always Open x Ja’Marr Chase collection.” Items in the collection include a snapback hat and several shirts. One features Chase’s tweet. There’s another with a shirt with a simple drawing of the store and its “Always Open” slogan. Another one says, “Oh thank Heaven, it’s game day.”

And Ja’Marr Chase is the co-leader in the NFL for receptions. He and Rams rookie Puca Nacua each have 50 receptions. And the Bengals have evened their record to 3-3 after losing three of its first four games.
