Aaron Rodgers has continually made waves due to his appearances on The Pat McAfee Show since the inception of his weekly spot with the program, but the heat has been turned up over the last week and change.

On last week’s episode on the aforementioned show, Rodgers insinuated Jimmy Kimmel Live! host Jimmy Kimmel could be connected to high-profile criminal Jeffrey Epstein. That prompted a response from the comedian on X (formerly known as Twitter), and he then partook in a lengthy rant during his monologue on Monday, disparaging Rodgers and his prior comments.

Afterwards, Rodgers responded via McAfee’s show on Tuesday, harkening back to Kimmel’s comments on Rodgers’ stance on COVID, and instead deflecting blame and declining to apologize directly to Kimmel. Still, Rodgers did relent that he was would, ‘like to put this to bed, to move forward.’

Well, it’s evident McAfee and his show will be moving forward without Rodgers, at least until next season. On Wednesday, one day after Rodgers’ confusing response to Kimmel, McAfee revealed that the New York Jets quarterback’s weekly spot will not be returning for the remainder of the current season.

“Aaron Rodgers is a Hall of Famer. He’s a four-time MVP. He’s a massive piece of the NFL story whenever you go back and tell it. He will be a huge part of it,” McAfee said. “We are very lucky to get a chance to chat with him and learn from him. Some of his thoughts and opinions do piss off a lot of people. I’m pumped that that is no longer every single Wednesday of my life, which it has been for the last few weeks.

“On Friday I obviously threw us into the fire as well. I forever stand by that. Everything else, though, just can’t do that and not what we want to be known for.”

Alas, McAfee is referring to his beef with some ESPN officials, who have been put into the fire due to Rodgers’ comments on Kimmel, who of course works with ABC on his show, which is owned by Disney, who also owns ESPN. So yeah, internal affairs.

Nevertheless, the latest drama was simply a lot for McAfee and company to handle, so it isn’t exactly unwelcome news that his weekly spot is over for now.

“The way it ended, it got real loud, real loud,” McAfee said, regarding the former NFL MVP’s last couple of appearances on his show. “I’m happy that is not going to be my mentions going forward, which is great news.”

What will Aaron Rodgers say next? It looks like we’ll have to wait awhile to find out. For now, Pat McAfee and ESPN are simply relieved to have him off their airwaves for a couple of months, it seems.
