Aaron Rodgers is on the expansive road to healing after he underwent successful Achilles surgery earlier this week in Los Angeles.

The Jets quarterback posted a photo with a message on his Instagram story. The photo was from an LA hospital Thursday night. He’s dressed in a standard hospital gown and he pulled down his mask to show he’s smiling.

Aaron Rodgers wrote “surgery went great yesterday. Thank you for all the love and prayers and support. And thanks to the (goat emoji) Dr. ElAttrache and his staff for starting me on the road to recovery.” You can check out the tweet from ESP click it here to go to Rodgers’ Insta stories.

Dr. Neal ElAttrache, an orthopedic surgeon based in Los Angeles, operated on Rodgers’ left Achilles. Dr ElAttrache has worked with numerous athletes during his career, He repaired Kobe Bryants’ Achilles. And so far this year, his main patients are MLB players. He also operated on Bengals tackle Jonah Williams after the playoffs.

Aaron Rodgers used the same social media platform to share his first message earlier this week. You could tell from his words that this whole experience has left him emotionally raw. On Monday night, he ran out of the MetLife Stadium tunnel carrying the American flag on 9-11. Jets fans roared their approval. Then on the fourth offensive snap, Rodgers was sacked. He didn’t know it then, but he suffered a complete tear of the Achilles.

Two days later, he wrote: “I’m completely heartbroken and moving through all of the emotions, but deeply touched and humbled by the support and love. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I begin the healing process today. … The night is darkest before the dawn. And I shall rise yet again.”

The recovery time for such an injury can be up to a year. So Rodgers is out for this season, with the recovery process touching into 2024.

Zach Wilson, whom the Jets drafted with the second pick of the 2021 draft, now takes over from Aaron Rodgers. The Jets have yet to add another quarterback to the roster. The only other quarterback on the team is Tim Boyle, a one-time back up to Rodgers at Green Bay.

Reporters asked Wilson, who will start Sunday’s game against the Cowboys, about whether he’s in touch with Rodgers. He said yes. Wilson said he told Rodgers that he loved him and that the entire team misses having him around.
