Ally Racing and Alex Bowman dropped the new look for the No. 48 in the 2024 NASCAR season. This digital camo is meant to stand out, not hide. When it comes to Bowman and his Ally designs, I’ve generally liked them. This one goes to the next level.

This season, I preferred Alex Bowman in his night race scheme. While the regular Ally design was an improvement from 2022, it still left something to be desired. Also, I’m a sucker for a purple race car, I’ll be honest. They just look great.

Ally has also done the right thing and filled up the door space where the number used to be. I’m one of the few who likes the numbers pushed forward, but sponsors and their design teams have to start using the space.

This purple, digital camo look is going to be awesome on the track. Alex Bowman is hoping he can get a win or two in 2024 in his new paint scheme.

The Ally Racing video made sure to point out, this camo is meant to stand out, not cover Bowman up on the track. Ally is such a big investor in racing and the biggest sign of that is their sponsorship of Hendrick Motorsports and Bowman.

When it comes to primary schemes and firesuits to match – I think that Alex Bowman and his team have knocked it out of the park. Sean Bull, who is often a designer in F1, teamed up with Ally to bring this 48 design to life. They hit a home run with this one, I think.

Alex Bowman hoping to have a better season in 2024

Of course, with his back injury this season and missing a number of races, Alex Bowman did not have the year he wanted in the NASCAR Cup Series. The thing is, he started the season as one of the best drivers. He led the point standings early on before his big sprint car crash.

In the first 10 races of the season, before his injury, Bowman had three top-5s, and three top-10s. His worst finish was at Bristol Dirt, P29, it was his only non-top-15 finish in those first 10 races.

Between races 14-36, when Bowman came back from injury, he managed only a single top-5 and three top-10 finishes. He found himself finishing outside of the top-25 on seven occasions.

Alex Bowman might be one of the biggest wildcards for 2024. With William Byron having his breakout season and Chase Elliott coming back 100% next year, Bowman feels a bit overshadowed. Everyone expects Kyle Larson, Byron, and Elliott to contend for Championship 4 appearances.

But, what do we expect from Bowman? Even I’m not sure. We’ll see if he can get back to being a driver that gets one or two wins every season or if he’s taken a step back after this injury.
