The GEICO 500 at Talladega is one of the biggest races on the NASCAR calendar each year and it usually brings out some of the biggest and brightest stars of the sport. New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has made the jump in his involvement with NASCAR the past few years, working with them in an advisory role. And Kamara couldn’t resist showing up for Talladega on Sunday. He ended up running into Roll Tide Willie, one of the most famous Crimson Tide fans on the internet.

It might be easy for many people to forget, but Kamara began his college football career with the Alabama Crimson Tide, before he was buried on the bench by a number of other insanely talented running backs such as Derrick Henry. But dealing with the adversity in Tuscaloosa is a big part of what Kamara credits for his success in the National Football League.

Kamara’s production in the NFL dipped a bit last year with the New Orleans Saints, but that was mostly due to the three-game suspension he served for a physical altercation back in February of 2022. He’s still established himself as one of the premiere talents to come through the ranks over the years. The Georgia native has already racked up over 5,829 rushing yards and 54 touchdowns to go along with 4,219 receiving yards and 23 touchdown catches.

Back in October of 2023, Kamara had similar production to Christian McCaffrey, one of the greatest to ever play the game. During his prolific career thus far, the former Tennessee star already owns a number of NFL records: most rushing touchdowns in a single game (six). He tied Ernie Nevers. Then he also has the most successful two-point conversion attempts (seven). That ties him with Marshall Faulk.

During his time with the New Orleans Saints, he’s etched his name all over their franchise running back records. Kamara has the most career rushing touchdowns (54), most rushing touchdowns in one season (16), the most receptions by a running back (505), the most receiving yards by a running back (4,219), and the most receiving touchdowns by a running back (23).

Kamara is the owner of the Big Squeezy, a Louisiana-based juice and smoothie chain. In February of 2021, the chain sponsored NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Ryan Vargas and his No. 6 JD Motorsports car in the Super Start Batteries 188 at the Daytona International Speedway Road Course.
