The details on the rookie contract of Angel Reese have been revealed after she was drafted No. 7 overall by the Chicago Sky in the 2024 WNBA Draft. According to Spotrac, Reese will make $324,383 over the next four seasons.

Reese will start off her rookie season with a salary of $73,439 for the year. That number will increase to a $93,636 team option by her fourth season. You can the full year-by-year details of Reese’s contract below.

Reese will earn slightly less in her first WNBA season than the players who were selected with picks No. 1-4, as they will make $76,535 as rookies. These numbers still pale in comparison to what players in the NBA make as rookies. The top pick on the men’s side will earn a staggering $10.1 million in their first year.

Ultimately, Reese and the other players drafted Monday evening will have the opportunity to increase their earnings once their four-year deals expire. The average WNBA salary is $147,745 while the highest-paid player, Jackie Young of the Las Vegas Aces, made $252,450 this past season.

It might seem like a big drop off from what Reese made at LSU, as she had an NIL valuation of $1.8 million that ranked her No. 1 among women’s basketball players. However, she’ll still be able to keep making money off endorsement deals with Reebok, Goldman Sachs and countless others as she enters the pros.

Reese will join former South Carolina center Kamilla Cardoso, whom the Sky selected No. 3 overall. The pair had plenty of heated battles in the SEC, including in this year’s conference championship game, and will now work together as teammates.

More on Angel Reese’s college career

Reese helped lead LSU to a national championship in the 2022-23 season and returned looking to run it back this past year. Unfortunately, the Tigers fell short to Iowa in the Elite Eight as Reese did all she could to finish with 17 points, 20 rebounds, four assists and three blocks.

In the 2023-24 season, Reese averaged 18.6 points, 13.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 47.1% from the floor. For her efforts, Reese was named the 2024 SEC Player of the Year.

The Baltimore native’s junior season was even more impressive. In Reese’s first year in Baton Rouge, she averaged career-highs of 23.0 points, 15.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per contest while shooting 52.5% from the floor.

Reese sent waves through the women’s basketball world, earning First-Team All-American honors and being named the 2023 Final Four Most Outstanding Player after guiding LSU to a national championship.
