Minnesota Timerwolves superstar guard Anthony Edwards is one of the most spectacular dunkers the game of basketball has seen in quite some time. He’s blessed with a freakish amount of athleticism and the former Georgia star is not afraid to put anyone on a poster. When the ball is in his hands, quite frankly, nobody is safe. Recently, Edwards baptized Rockets’ forward Alperen Sengun with a couple of epic dunks in the Rockets-Timberwolves game on January 21st. On Thursday afternoon, Edwards spoke with ESPN about why he posterized the Turkish star.

“I told one of his teammates I was gonna catch him again because he’s just jumping to have fun at this point, so (laughs)….” Edwards explained.

Not only did Edwards throw down two amazing dunks, he stuffed the stat sheet with 44 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals, and three blocks.

Let’s take a look at the two dunks. There’s this one, where Sengun jumps in the middle of the lane, and in classic Anthony Edwards fashion, obliterates him in mid-air with one of the best poster dunks of the year. Edwards took flight from the dotted line and sent it in with authority.

Then, there was this one, which wasn’t quite as good, but still really good. Sengun jumped in the restricted area, and Edwards was once again took off from around the dotted line.

Edwards has declined invites to the NBA Slam Dunk Contest in the past, but the people need to take charge and crowdfund something. Edwards is a generational dunker. The world needs to see him perform in at least one dunk contest. Singers sing. Writers write. Dunkers dunk. The man has a gift and basketball fans need to see him in the dunk contest, at least once during his career. The best dunk of his young career thus far came when he went baseline and absolutely bodied Raptors’ power forward Yuta Watanbe on Feb. 19, 2021.

Anthony Edwards has established himself as one of the biggest superstars in the NBA. He’s currently averaging 24.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. The former Georgia Bulldog was the No. 1 overall selection in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, and he’s only proven the franchise right with his electrifying playmaking ability.
