As Tom Brady exits the NFL, a new group of quarterbacks is coming into the league. Among those quarterbacks is Anthony Richardson, who was taken by the Indianapolis Colts with the fourth overall pick in the draft.

Now, Brady has surprised Richardson by sending him a heartfelt gift and message.

Check out Tom Brady’s gift and message for Anthony Richardson, here:

“A lot of great friends tell me you’re a better person than you are a quarterback, which says a lot because I’ve seen some of those throws you make,” Brady said.

Tom Brady also gave Anthony Richardson a signed Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey, which contained a personal note from Brady to Richardson. That note read, “Anthony, your best is yet to come!”

Along with Brady reaching out to Richardson in this way, there were several other NFL legends who reached out to rookies to give some words of encouragement and the gift of a signed jersey. The whole thing was put together by Fanatics and posted on the company’s Twitter account.

Tom Brady also met with Richardson and other rookie quarterbacks at a Fanatics lunch. There, he gave the young signal callers some advice.

“Going in the second round, in the end, it is not that big of a deal. Going first overall, in the end, it is not a big deal. It is great, you got opportunity, you’ll get paid more than anyone for a time period, but I was drafted 199,” Brady said.

“I just outlasted everybody. There’s another me back there, so how do I keep my edge on everybody? I had to keep working. I didn’t go ‘Hey, I’m good; I won three Super Bowls, I’m good.’”

Peyton Manning praised Anthony Richardson

Peyton Manning is a legend in the NFL, but he’s especially a legend in Indianapolis, where he was a dominant starting quarterback for 13 seasons. Now, he’s given a vote of confidence for Anthony Richardson as the young quarterback tries to take over that role.

“He took No. 15 — that’s Tim Tebow’s number,” Manning said. “That’s a lot of pressure. Tim Tebow at Florida is a folk hero. I think [Richardson] can handle the NFL after handling that. That tells me he’s not afraid of pressure. Not afraid of expectation.”

Manning would go on to admit that he thinks Anthony Richardson needs more time to develop and get more reps at the quarterback position.

“Yeah. You can say he misses some throws but he didn’t have that many throws. I think it was just over 300 attempts. … Josh Allen had seven hundred and something attempts in college, right?” Manning said. “The exciting big plays he can make, like Josh Allen, those aren’t going away.”
