The former Penn State Nittany Lions star guard has officially found his new home in the NBA. Penn State shooting guard Seth Lundy is on his way to Atlanta as the newest member of the Hakws. The Hawks selected Lundy with the No. 46 overall pick of the 2023 NBA Draft.

Lundy was a key player for Penn State this season, helping the Nittany Lions to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He ranked second on the roster with 14.2 points per game while shooting 45% from the field, including 40% from three-point distance.

Lundy likely boosted his draft stock with his showing during the scrimmages at the 2023 NBA Combine. The former Penn State was able to show off his ability to connect from long range and his instincts as a defender. But particularly, the most tantalizing part of Lundy’s combine experience for NBA scouts was his measurements portion. Lundy has a height of six-foot-four, without shoes on, with an impressive six-foot-10.25 wingspan.

What NBA Draft experts are saying about Seth Lundy

Overall, the draft experts at NBA.com appear to be fans of how Lundy’s game can potentially transition to the next level. Still, there is one aspect of his play where he’s lacking and will need to improve to have a successful NBA career.

“Lundy is a solidly built wing with a smooth jumper who thrives in catch-and-shoot situations. He’s shown an ability to make tough jumpers with a hand in his face,” RotoWire’s evaluation of the top draft pick said. “He isn’t known for his defense, but he wasn’t a liability in college. While he can catch fire, he can sometimes be in his own world and not creating for others. Lundy finished his career at Penn State with 138 turnovers to 88 assists.”

Projection-wise, Lundy shares a play style similar to individuals who have carved out some solid roles in the NBA, with one of them finishing off this season as a champion.

“Lundy could enter the NBA as a flamethrower off the bench, unafraid to take tough shots and always looking for the 3-ball. There are shades of Kelly Oubre and Michael Porter Jr. to his game. It may take some time, but he could develop into a sixth man.”
