Austin Dillon decided to do his best Tony Stewart impression and threw his helmet at Tyler Reddick’s car after a hard wreck. Racing hard in the final 65 laps of the race, Dillon was spun around and put into the wall. This wreck was really hard and ended Dillon’s day in the NASCAR race.

After he got out of the car, Austin Dillon went up to the track, helmet in hand. As Reddick drove back around under caution, Dillon tossed it and sent it toward the 45 Toyota Camry. A little bad blood between the two former RCR teammates.

This wasn’t the first incident involving Dillon. He had spun earlier in the race during Stage 2. Pocono Raceway has a knack for producing intense wrecks and this one was no different. Just one car into the wall, but it was a BIG hit.

The former teammate aspect of this is interesting. Perhaps there is a little frustration with Tyler Reddick leaving RCR after last season for 23XI Racing. Then again, it let the team pick up Kyle Busch this season. So, it seems that Childress, at least for now, is on the winning end of that deal.

Austin Dillon might have felt he was done wrong, but it did appear that he came up a bit. When you’re racing three-wide, things can happen. What will be interesting is to see if NASCAR will issue any penalties against Dillon. Tempers are flaring at Pocono this afternoon!

Austin Dillon not happy with Tyler Reddick

To put it simply, these two aren’t on good terms. And it makes sense from Austin Dillon’s perspective. He has taken a step back this season. He isn’t the big name on his team anymore with a two-time Cup Series champion as his teammate. With all of the struggles this season, that frustration just came out after this wreck.

Since finishing P9 at Charlotte, it has been a hard road for Dillon. He has finished P31, P19, P13, P36, P21, P9, and now P34 since that top-10 finish. It felt like a turning point for Dillon in Charlotte. Then, he just never followed it up with anything meaningful.

Dillon came into this race 29th in the points standings, 140 points off the cutline. A win, like last season at Daytona, will be the only way that Dillon makes the postseason.

So, Austin Dillon will just have to wait for another chance. It does feel like he won’t get a shot at a win until Daytona. Will he be able to pull it off for the second year in a row?
