Baker Mayfield is officially a dad. Mayfield and his wife Emily announced the birth of their daughter Kova Jade Mayfield on Saturday.

Emily posted the news on social media with the caption: “My heart could explode at any minute, I swear. Bake was born to be a dad.”

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers shared Emily’s post on Twitter. You can see it below:

While the Mayfields announced the addition of Kova Jade Mayfield on Saturday, she was actually born on Tuesday.

Emily posted on Instagram that: “Baby girl joined us Tuesday night just before 7:30 p.m. She is truly everything we prayed for and more. We’re enjoying life as a family of 4. Fergus (the Mayfield’s dog) is so gentle and curious, Daddy is so smitten, and Mama wants to pause time and make these days last forever.”

Baker Mayfield is coming off of an excellent season in 2023. He was named to the Pro Bowl thanks to his play last year.

Prior to heading to the NFL, Mayfield played college football at Texas Tech and then Oklahoma. He was a star for the Sooners, earning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors twice.

Mayfield won the Heisman Trophy during his time at Oklahoma, before being picked No. 1 overall in the NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns in 2018.

More on Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Baker Mayfield will be staying in Tampa after an excellent 2023 season. He agreed to a three-year, $100 million deal with the Buccaneers last month. It includes $50 million guaranteed.

Mayfield, 28, is coming off his best season as a pro, throwing for 4,044 yards, 28 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on 64.3% passing. His passer rating of 94.6 was the second-highest of his career. He earned his first career Pro Bowl nomination and led the Buccaneers to their third consecutive NFC South title.

Mayfield rehabilitated his career in Tampa Bay after spending time with three teams (Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Rams) in a span of a year. The 2018 No. 1 overall pick out of Oklahoma signed a one-year deal worth $4 million guaranteed with the Buccaneers last offseason, a contract which went down as one of the best bargains around the league in 2023.

The Buccaneers are also running it back with wide receiver Mike Evans and safety Antonio Winfield Jr.

From welcoming a baby to his family to signing a huge contract, it has been quite the offseason for Baker Mayfield.
