Baker Mayfield is starting the second half for Carolina.

The change was made after the Panthers’ complete team collapse in the first half against the Cincinnati Bengals. The first half was so bad for Carolina that Cincinnati had more points (35) than the Panthers had total offensive yards (32).

PJ Walker, the starter coming into the game, finished the half 3-of-10 for nine yards. Mayfield was the starter for the first several games for the season, but a poor start to the season forced the Carolina staff’s hand to make a change on offense.

On his first drive in the game, the former Heisman Trophy winner marched the Panthers right down the field and into the red zone before throwing a touchdown pass to tight end Tommy Tremble.

Carolina Panthers: Inactives for Week 9 at Cincinnati Bengals

The Carolina Panthers have released their list on inactives ahead for their Week 9 showdown in Cincinnati, where they’ll travel to take on the Bengals.

Coming off a disappointing overtime loss to the Atlanta Falcons, the Panthers need a victory to continue their chase for a playoff spot in the NFC. However, Cincinnati is also dealing with a tough loss and on a short week after falling to the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football, and will need a win to keep pace with the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC North.

Alas, something has to give, but here’s how healthy the Panthers are going into the highly anticipated showdown.
