Roquan Smith on Browns: Going to 'beat their tails in front of their wife and kids'
Two divisional foes will face off this Sunday as the Baltimore Ravens visit the Cleveland Browns this Sunday, and Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith is coming with some bad intentions.
Smith spoke about his mindset and mentality as he heads into a hostile road environment, and used a very interesting analogy regarding the circumstances that may ruffle the feathers of some players on Cleveland’s team.
“You’re considered a bad guy because you’re going to essentially another man’s house and you’re trying to take over. Like his wife, kids, everyone there to watch them so we going over to beat their tails in front of their wife and kids,” Smith said. “So when you think about it from that perspective any man’s gonna fight to the death at that point, I know if that’s me in that case I know I would. So I think about it from that standpoint and I’m just going in just like I prepare for any other game. Play to the whistle, play physical, and hit anything that moves.”
It sounds like Smith will be taking the field at Cleveland Browns Stadium with some bad intentions, looking to embarrass members of the Browns offense and teach them a lesson on their home field in front of their fans and loved ones.
“You go in there as the enemy to go take over and that’s our plan, to actually go take over,” Smith added. “I think they call it the Dawg Pound, I consider myself a dog so I’m right at home in that place. So I’m excited to get back in there and I know they’re a physical football team, but so are we.”
Smith made some strong statements as the Ravens are fresh off of a disappointing home loss to the Indianapolis Colts, led by the efforts of backup quarterback Gardner Minshew.
His 33 tackles on the season rank first on the Ravens and fourth across the NFL, but Baltimore will need to bring their A-game across the board as the Browns currently rank top five in the league in rushing and boast the NFL’s top defense through three weeks.
“Honestly I love it, I love a challenge,” Smith said. “At the end of the day, I love looking something square in the face and saying bring it on, whatever it is. Chin up, chest out, I live by that. Sunsets, no regrets, so I’m looking forward to it and I can’t wait.”
The Ravens and Browns square off this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET in a matchup airing on CBS.
