The Bengals next play the Steelers Thanksgiving weekend. Whether Joe Burrow is in the lineup remains to be seen. But it’s guaranteed that his right wrist will be one of the most talked about injuries in the NFL.

Cincinnati coach Zac Taylor says his quarterback suffered a sprained wrist. late in the first half Thursday night in a road loss to the Ravens, Burrow is set for an MRI today,

“He fell on it early in the game,” Taylor told reporters in his post-game press conference. And Burrow “then felt it on the touchdown pass.”

The Thursday Night Football game was supposed to be all about elite, highly-paid quarterbacks, with Burrow starting for the Bengals and Lamar Jackson for the Ravens. But both quarterbacks were injured during the game, which Baltimore won, 34-20. Jackson tweaked his ankle and didn’t miss any action. However, he did lose tight end Mark Andrews, possibly his favorite receiver. Ravens coach John Harbough said Andrews likely will miss the remainder of the season because of an ankle injury.

Burrow winced after he threw a touchdown pass to running back Joe Mixon. He ducked inside the injury tent set up on the sideline. Then he came back out and tried to throw the ball. It didn’t go well. TNF sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung said that Burrow couldn’t grip the ball with his right hand. He also had issues raising his arm. Burrow went back to the lockerroom for more checks, then the team ruled him out.

Did Bengals hide possible Burrow injury before the game?

Here’s the funny thing about Burrow’s injury. He didn’t show up on the Bengals daily injury report. However, a fun arrival video posted by the Cincy social media team possibly revealed that Burrow had a wrap on his right wrist. This was the day before the game. The Bengals deleted the video after much discussion on social media. Meanwhile, Burrow did not speak to reporters after the game.

Jake Browning, the one-time Washington Huskies star, replaced Burrow in the Bengals lineup. It’s unclear how long the Bengals will need to lean on Browning. But it appears the Bengals already are out of the race for the AFC North. Cincy is 5-5 and in last place in the division. The Ravens are leading with an 8-3 record.

“I felt calm all the time, felt like I threw the ball where I wanted to, but obviously there were too many three-and-outs,” Browning told reporters. “Put our defense in a tough situation and I think when Joe goes down I go in the game fully expecting to win.”

Like we said, the Bengals return to action on Nov. 26 with a home game against the Steelers.
