The Cincinnati Bengals have released offensive tackle La’el Collins. Collins — who has been rehabbing from a torn ACL and MCL — had been on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

The former LSU lineman signed a three-year contract with the Bengals in the 2022 offseason.

He made 15 starts along the Bengals offensive line last season before suffering his knee injuries in Week 16 versus the New England Patriots.

The 30-year-old Collins is now a free agent.

He played the first seven years of his career with the Cowboys, who signed Collins after he went undrafted out of LSU. Collins was a potential first-round pick but after he was interviewed in a murder investigation, he slide down draft boards. This was despite the fact he wasn’t considered a suspect.

Collins played in 74 games with the Cowboys with 71 starts. He spent most of the time with Dallas as its right tackle.

The Cincinnati Bengals were upset in the first week of the 2023 season by the Cleveland Browns. The Bengals totaled only 142 yards of offense while the Browns pulled out a 24-3 victory.

Star quarterback Joe Burrow, fresh off a newly-signed extension, said it was nothing to worry about.

“Nobody is panicking in here, guys,” Burrow said. “Week 1 doesn’t define anybody’s season. Obviously, not very good out there. Anybody that watched saw that. But we have been in this spot before and come back stronger and had great years. That’s what we are going to do.”

Burrow had only 82 yards on 14 of 31 passing while Joe Mixon had only 56 yards on 13 carries. Ja’Marr Chase had five catches for 39 yards and no touchdowns.

Dallas Cowboys, La’el Collins’ old team, cruise to Week 1 victory

While La’el Collins’ most-recent team struggled in its season opener, his first team put on a clinic Sunday night. The Dallas Cowboys put the beat down on the New York Giants in a dominant 40-0 road victory.

Star linebacker Micah Parsons declared the Cowboys defense the best unit in the league after the -performance.

“I thought it was good — all three phases,” Parsons said. “It started with the special teams with that big block [on the field goal], and I feel like we just carried the momentum and that shift from there. We never let up, which is a great sign because last year we might’ve let up a little bit. But we stayed on them.”
