Josh Allen confessed that he needs the rest. Playing on Thursday night means that the Bills quarterback gets the rest of the weekend to put his feet up. And he’s probably looking for extra ice on his knee and shoulder.

Allen is banged up, but winning helps soothe the pain. He already was dealing with an achy shoulder. And he needed to check in at the medical tent during Thursday night’s win over Tampa Bay. But he didn’t miss a play in the 24-18 victory.

Josh Allen says he wasn’t coming off field in Bills-Bucs game

In post-game, the Bills quarterback told the NFL Network, “It’s gonna take a lot for me not to play. I’m going to be a little sore for a couple of days. I’m glad it’s a Thursday night game. We’ll have some test to rest.”

The Bills were desperate to get their season back on track after losing to the Patriots, one of the worst teams in the NFL. But Josh Allen bounced back like he normally does. Want trends? Allen now is 21-5 in games after a loss. According to the Bills, he owns the best winning percentage coming off a loss of any quarterback with a minimum of 25 starts in the Super Bowl era.

Even with a tender shoulder, Allen accounted for three touchdowns — two via the pass and one on the ground. Plus, he ran for 41 yards, which is his second best game rushing game this season and the most in four weeks.

And if you were watching the Bills-Bucs and thought that Allen played differently, you weren’t imagining it. Allen averaged 2.27 seconds per throw. Next Gen Stats said that was the fastest of his career. And since he threw the ball so quickly, the Bucs didn’t have much time for a rush. That’s why he faced pressure only 13 percent of the time on his drop back passes. That, too, was a career low.

“This team moves really well when I’m able to get the ball around to our playmakers,” Josh Allen told reporters in post-game. “And I thought guys did a great job with the ball in their hand.”
