Former Alabama star and potential No. 2 overall pick Brandon Miller raised a lot of eyebrows calling Paul George the GOAT.

Well, Miller clarified his comments when he put George over guys like LeBron James and Michael Jordan, whom he talked to leading up to the draft. The Charlotte Hornets own the No. 2 pick as Jordan gets ready to sell his majority share in the team.

Miller spoke with Taylor Rooks on the NBA Draft’s red carpet and clarified his comments regarding George’s GOAT status.

“I grew up watching Paul George, it was never LeBron,” Miller said. “I’d never knock LeBron. LeBron is definitely the best in the league but I’m a Paul George fan. I thought I made it clear that my GOAT was Paul George.”

Miller clearly modeled his game after George, so in a way it’s no disrespect to two all-time greats.

Plus, George isn’t too shabby either as he’s one of the better players in the league to this day. Just maybe not the GOAT according to anyone else.

But if Miller’s GOAT is George, we’re not going to fault him for his personal opinions.

In 37 games last season, Miller finished with 18.8 points per game, 8.2 rebounds per game, 2.1 assists per game, shot 43% from the floor and 38.4% from three-point range.

Miller played high school basketball at Antioch (TN) Cane Ridge, where he was a five-star prospect. He was the No. 14 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

While Miller was trending towards Charlotte, recent reports suggested Scott Henderson gained serious momentum as the second pick behind projected No. 1 pick Victor Wembanyama.

After the first pick, it’s now anyone’s guess how the Hornets and every team after them will pick. Not even Las Vegas knows who’s going to be the name read off by Adam Silver at pick No. 2. Caesars Sportsbook and most other casinos slotted Miller as the heavy favorite for most of the pre-draft process and had him at an overwhelming -900 to go second as of Wednesday evening.

Now, the tables may have turned and it’s some drama at the top of the 2023 NBA Draft after all! Once the Spurs pick Wemby, we’re off to the races, folks. Let the pandemonium commence.
