Charlotte Hornets rookie Brandon Miller does, indeed, know who Khris Middleton is. Miller recently came under fire for a Tik Tok video in which appeared not to recognize the Milwaukee Bucks star when his face appeared on the screen.

In the video in question, Miller was playing a game where he selected a starting five of randomly generated NBA players. When he was down between his small forward and center, Middleton appeared on the screen along with Isaiah Hartenstein of the Knicks.

“I don’t know these two,” he said. “I’ll keep the small forward, whoever that is.”

Miller appeared for an interview at the NBA Summer League on Saturday, where he cleared the air on those comments. The No. 2 overall pick claimed that he was simply trolling.

“I know who Khris Middleton is,” he said. “I think people should have more fun in the NBA instead of always serious. I think I can bring back the fun to the game. I troll the media for fun. If you take it, laugh at it. Don’t be that guy about it. Just laugh at it and maybe repost it. I’ll repost it if you repost it.”

If Miller is a fan of the NBA, it’s unlikely that he wouldn’t at least know Middleton’s name. The small forward is a three-time All-Star who won an NBA Championship with Milwaukee in 2021 and has been one of the team’s top options over the past several seasons along with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday.

It wasn’t just Middleton who got caught up in Miller’s Tik Tok, however. The rookie also said he didn’t know who New Orleans Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas was when his face appeared after Middleton’s. However, unlike Middleton, Miller did not clarify to say whether he knew who Valanciunas was.

Trolling or not, Miller shined on the court during Summer League play to average 15.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists across five games. The Hornets recently shut him down for the remainder of the Summer league, but he’ll hope to carry over that impressive play once he begins his rookie season in a few months.

Brandon Miller calls Paul George the GOAT

This isn’t the first time that Miller has appeared to be trolling. Before the NBA Draft, Miller raised eyebrows with his answer on whether Michael Jordan was his GOAT.

The former Alabama product had quite the response.

“No, because I actually don’t think LeBron is the GOAT of basketball,” Miller said. “My GOAT of basketball is Paul George. I grew up watching him. So, it was never just LeBron.”

It seems like Miller likes to have fun by providing unusual answers to the typical media questions. However, when the line is blurred and people can’t tell whether he’s being serious, it’s already gotten him into some interesting situations.
