Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, visited some of the youngest shooting victims Friday, two days after the Chiefs celebratory parade turned so horrific.

The superstar Chiefs quarterback and his wife are certainly doing their part to lift their spirits. Malik Jackson, a reporter for the Fox affiliate in Kansas City, posted photos of the Mahomes’ visit with two of the hospitalized children. He added in the caption that the families of both children said both are “are ok but have a long road to recovery.”

The two sisters, ages 8 and 10, suffered leg injuries. They are the cousins of the woman who died in the shooting. The family released a statement thanking everyone for their help.

As Patrick and Brittany Mahomes visited the shooting victims, Kansas City officials announced that charges have been filed against two juveniles allegedly involved in the mass shooting, The charges were for offenses related to guns and resisting arrest. The two are jailed at the city’s Juvenile Detention Center. Because the two are juveniles, police can’t release any documents related to the charges. Their names also can’t be released.

One woman died and 22 people were injured during the shootings. It happened as the Chiefs Super Bowl victory parade was ending. Several Chiefs, including Patrick Mahomes, Chris Jones and Travis Kelce, addressed the huge and joyful crowd that gathered near Union Station. It was a festive mood, considering the Chiefs had won their third Super Bowl in the past five seasons.

Taylor Swift donated $100k to Lopez family

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift, Kelce’s girlfriend, donated $100,000 to a GoFundMe memorial campaign for Elizabeth Lopez-Galvan, the 44-year-old mother of two who died at the scenes after being shot in the abdomen. Her family set up the GoFundMe with a goal of $75,000. By early afternoon Friday, the fund approached $300,000. Swift attended the Super Bowl, her 13th Chiefs game of the year, but not the parade. She flew to Australia to continue her Eras concert tour.

The Chiefs, as a team, are joining the Kansas City United Way to raise money for the victims. You can read more about it here.

Several players also helped in the immediate aftermath of the shooting. Offensive tackle Trey Smith gave a WWE championship belt to a young boy to help keep him calm. Deep snapper James Winchester sheltered in a closet and also helped folks. Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire stayed with a little boy who got separated from his family until his father arrived.
