Just two months following the tragic death of their two-year-old daughter, Arrayah, Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Shaquil Barrett and his wife Jordanna have announced that they are expecting once again.

Arrayah Barrett passed away after a pool accident in May, leaving the family devastated at her loss. Barrett and his wife have three other children, a daughter and two boys, and they’ll welcome another daughter in February of 2024, according to Jordanna’s Instagram post.

“A few weeks after our sweet girls heaven day, Shaquil and I found out we were expecting!” Jordanna Barrett wrote. “I just know Arrayah had a special hand in picking this sweet girl to add to our family!”

The Barretts have already selected a name for the family’s newcomer: Allanah Ray.

“God works in such mysterious ways, but I will never ever doubt his plans for my life,” the post’s caption continues. “Through the worst of the worst, he turns and uses ALL things for good. I trust when it’s the hardest and praise him through all things good.”

The Tampa Bay Times first reported news of Arrayah’s tragic passing. Police in Tampa responded to a call regarding a child who fell into a pool on Sunday morning. Arrayah was transported to a nearby hospital following the incident. Despite taking life-saving measures, she passed away at the hospital.

The 30-year-old Barrett started his NFL career with the Broncos. And he was part of the team when Denver beat Carolina for the Super Bowl.

In 2019, he moved on to the Bucs, leading the NFL in sacks during his first season in Tampa. The next season, he picked up his second Super Bowl ring when the Bucs beat the Chiefs. Barrett even sacked Patrick Mahomes to put an exclamation point on the victory.

The former Colorado State star is going on the third year of his four-year contract with the Bucs this season. He originally signed a four-year deal for $68 million in 2021.
