Kade Warner will be searching for a new home in the NFL, per the Pewter Report.

“The [Buccaneers] are cutting WR Kade Warner, the son of Hall of Fame QB Kurt Warner,” the Pewter Report wrote on Twitter. “The undrafted free agent out of Kansas State had 1 rec. for 19 yards in preseason. Bucs WR room has lots of young talent, including rookies Trey Palmer & Rakim Jarrett.”

As mentioned, Warner signed with Tampa Bay after going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft. Warner was a standout receiver at Kansas State, hauling in 46 catches for 456 yards and a team-leading five touchdowns in 2022.

Warner joined the Wildcats for the final two seasons of his collegiate career after spending four years at Nebraska. In total, Warner amassed 90 receptions for 858 receiving yards and five touchdowns while in college. The 6-foot-1 wide receiver averaged 9.5 yards per catch.

While Warner never boasted he was the most athletic rookie receiver, he was confident in his football IQ.

“I’m competitive like that and I’m the smartest receiver in this draft class,” Warner said, per Matt Matera of Pewter Report. “I’ve said it before. They’re going to get a good slot receiver out of me, and I’m going to know exactly what to do on every play.”

Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles was complimentary of the 24-year-old despite the team’s recent decision.

“Coachable, very coachable,” Bowles said of Warner. “Solid football player. He can catch the ball, he can play special teams, he can do a lot of things that we need, and we’re always looking for special teams players.”

Tampa Bay puts focus on improved offense

Now, it appears Warner will be forced to provide his talents to a different team. Unfortunately for Warner, he is likely a minor worry for the organization with under two weeks until the regular season begins.

Tampa Bay’s offense is a question mark this season. The Buccaneers brought in new offensive coordinator Dave Canales this offseason, replacing Byron Leftwich. Despite the team’s subpar 2022 campaign, receiver Chris Godwin is excited to show off the team’s improvement on offense.

“I definitely think it’s gonna look different,” Godwin said on The Rich Eisen Show. “The presentation of things is gonna be a bit different. If you look at some of the things that Dave and Brad did while they were in Seattle, what they did compared to what we’ve done in the past is very different. The interesting thing is for them to be able to come and kind of merge the two systems. To take some of the stuff that they’ve done really well and take some of the stuff that our guys are accustomed to and merging the systems.”
