Over the weekend, cameras at the Buffalo Sabres game captured two of their newest fans having an absolute blast rinkside. Those new fans: Buffalo Bills stars Dion Dawkins and James Cook. The Bills duo were going back and forth all night during the game against the Boston Bruins. It was supposedly the first NHL game for the NFL stars and it was a major learning opportunity for them.

Dawkins and Cook took advantage of the seasoned veterans sitting around them by asking questions about penalties and certain hockey-specific moves. The offensive tackle even mused about how fun it would be to play both offense and defense if they got their chance to take the ice. Unfortunately, the Sabres didn’t have as good of a time as the NFL players did, losing to the Bruins 4-1.

The Bills players also learned a crucial lesson about rinkside etiquette after Dawkins put his hot dog on the boards before one of the players got checked into the wall, sending the hockey arena frank careening to the floor.

Bills on the hunt for playoff berth in Week 18

Buffalo, coming off of a 27-21 win against the New England Patriots on Sunday, is in the hunt for the postseason heading into the last game of the season against the Miami Dolphins.

The Bills enter the final week of the regular season as the sixth seed in the AFC race. Barring ties in Week 18 games, they could secure their fifth consecutive playoff berth even with a loss to Miami if Pittsburgh loses at Baltimore or Jacksonville loses at Tennessee.

Cook, a second-year running back for the Bills, was a big part of the team’s win in Week 17 against New England. Though the rushing scores, two of them, went to Josh Allen, the former Georgia Bulldog still posted 48 rushing yards to lead the team.

Last week against the Dallas Cowboys, Cook had success around the edges and through the gaps on his way to a career-high 179 rushing yards.

The Bills, now 10-6, trail the Miami Dolphins by one game in the AFC East. If the Bills beat the Dolphins on Sunday to win the division, they will also earn the No. 2 seed in the AFC and hosting privileges against the No. 7 seed in the Wild Card round.
