Buffalo Bills fans took advantage of the elements on Sunday night by using snowballs made from the mounds in Highmark Stadium to pelt Kansas City players, and Patrick Mahomes in particular, after the Chiefs’ win in the divisional round matchup. Even as Mahomes tried to celebrate with a young fan after the game, Bills fans still threw snowballs. The star quarterback went 17-for-23 for 215 yards and two touchdowns in the 27-24 win.

The Chiefs quarterback wasn’t the only one taking projectiles from Bills fans. Chris Jones, who had been going back-and-forth with fans since the pregame warmups, also had snowballs thrown at him before the game was even over. After kicker Tyler Bass‘s missed field goal, it was open season on the Chiefs players.

Cameras even caught Chiefs player Drue Tranquill faking Buffalo fans out by pretending to throw one right back into the stands. After the game, Tranquill took an opportunity to roast the Bills for their arm strength.

“I caught the snowball,” he wrote on X. “If it didn’t break in my hand, it was getting launched right back at him. We’d beat them in a snowball fight too. Truth is, my four year old throws a meaner snowball than #BillsMafia.”

Tight end Travis Kelce had his own response to the snowball attacks. The veteran simply blew kisses towards the fans in the stands.

Mahomes, Kelce break Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski’s postseason record

The connection between Mahomes and Kelce was on full display during the divisional round with the duo breaking one of Tom Brady’s long-standing NFL records.

Mahomes and Kelce connected for their 15th (and 16th) playoff touchdowns, which is the most-ever between a quarterback-receiver duo in NFL history. Tom Brady previously held the record with 15 touchdown passes thrown to tight end Rob Gronkowski. The former Patriots legend gave the Chiefs super duo a shoutout on social media after the game.

“BEASTS,” Brady tweeted. “When you one up gronk you’re doing something right.”

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have scored all 16 of their playoff touchdowns while playing for the Chiefs. Brady and Gronkowski, on the other hand, scored most with the Patriots, but also reconnected with the Buccaneers. They had their final touchdown connection during the Bucs’ 2021 Super Bowl run before Gronkowski re-retired.

During his post-game press conference, Mahomes gave all the credit to his teammate for what they’ve been able to accomplish.

“It speaks to Travis and his work, to be able to go out there and make plays in big games,” Mahomes said. “Passing anything that has Brady and Gronk in it is special. Because those are two of the greatest players.”
