Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was showing support for those affected by the tornado that hit the Houston area. A video surfaced online that showed Stroud throwing a football with a kid in a local neighborhood. It was also reported that Stroud helped clean up the area while cutting down trees.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Stroud was playing catch in the Kashmere Gardens neighborhood. The storm killed seven and left more than one million without power.

Stroud is no stranger to doing good work in the community. Earlier this year, PopCulture.com spoke to the Ohio State alum about surprising a military veteran with Super Bowl tickets.

“It was honestly just something that my team brought to me,” Stroud said. “I wanted to be able to just do something special for our military and really an honor just to be able to do that. And our military is very important and I have a lot of love for those guys. And I know just their service means a lot more really to us players. We couldn’t play this game without them serving our country, so we appreciate it.”

C.J. Stroud made history during his rookie season

Stroud, 22, was named Offensvie Rookie of the Year in 2023 after throwing for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns. He became the fifth quarterback in NFL history to throw for over 4,000 yards in their rookie season. Stroud led the Texans to the AFC South title and the divisional round of the playoffs.

What was the key to Stroud’s success in 2023? “I would say just honestly coming from Ohio State, having just a lot of great coaching there,” Stroud said.  “And then coming into the league, just trying to be confident. I think that’s one thing that I really heard coming in is just it’s football. Just don’t treat it more than what it is and just really just be yourself. I would say those are the things that made me be successful.”

Stroud also talked about being happy with his rookie season despite missing out on playing in the Super Bowl. “I had to look from what we came from last year and just really DeMeco [Ryans] and Nick [Caserio] and our front office did a good job bringing the right guys in,” he said. “And we’re trying to do the same thing this year, but more just build more chemistry and things like that and really get back to where we’re at and win that game.”
