Surprise surprise, it’s Christian McCaffrey back on the Carolina Panthers injury report. The oft-maligned star running back for Carolina dealt with a small ankle problem last week but played. Now, he’s apparently suffering some sort of thigh issue and may not suit up on Sunday as Carolina hosts the Cardinals in the late afternoon slate.

Here was the latest report from the Panthers team site on McCaffrey’s status and injury:

“Christian McCaffrey is back in the building, and he has a chance to play this weekend. McCaffrey returned to practice Friday after missing the previous two days with a thigh injury. He was a limited participant, and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Cardinals. McCaffrey’s coming off two straight 100-yard rushing games, his first since 2019. He was also on the injury report last week with an ankle issue, but played.”

Panthers fans and McCaffrey fantasy owners everywhere have another weekend of sweating out their star running back’s status to look forward too. But if you’re looking for positives, at least he’s participating in practice in some capacity on Friday before trying to give it a go on Sunday.

A few other players were also listed as questionable alongside C-Mac. Linebacker Frankie Luvu (shoulder), tight end Ian Thomas (ankle), safety Xavier Woods (hamstring), and cornerback Jaycee Horn (calf) all have their statuses up in the air as well heading into the weekend.

A lot of unknowns for the Carolina Panthers as they approach their matchup with the Cardinals. Which is a fairly important game for both squads, as both are off to 1-2 starts this season. It’s a big difference between a .500 record at 2-2 and being two games in the hole at 1-3 nearly a quarter of the way into the regular season. A win both clubs could really use.
