The Carolina Panthers announced on Friday that Chuba Hubbard will not be available on Sunday after he missed three practices this week. The latest injury report lists Hubbard as out for Week 8.

He is dealing with an ankle injury that he suffered during last week’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Panthers need him to play a big role following the trade of Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers last week, but he won’t hit the field this Sunday versus the Atlanta Falcons. Last week in the win versus the Bucs, he had nine carries for 63 yards and a touchdown.

Cornerback Jaycee Horn, however, is now likely to play after fully participating in practice Friday. Horn’s official designation is “questionable,” but his practice status Friday was a positive step in the right direction and Steve Wilks anticipates that he will play.

Linebacker Frankie Luvu, safety Juston Burris and defensive end Marquis Haynes are the only other questionable Panthers but, unlike Horn, they had limited participation on Friday.

Panthers Friday injury report vs Falcons

Did not participate: RB Chuba Hubbard (ankle)

Without Hubbard, the Panthers will play with D’Onta Foreman and rookie Raheem Blackshear this week. They could also promote practice-squad RB Spencer Brown if needed for depth against the Falcons.

Limited participants: DE Marquis Haynes (illness), LB Frankie Luvu (shoulder), S Justin Burris (hip)

Unlike almost everyone else on Friday’s report, Justin Burris was a new addition.

Full participants: CB Jaycee Horn (ribs), OT Taylor Moton (illness), G Michael Jordan (personal), DT Matthew Ioannidis (concussion), CB Donte Jackson (ankle), LB Arron Mosby (hamstring), DT Daviyon Nixon (illness), WR Laviska Shenault (hamstring), S Sean Chandler (hamstring), DB Myles Hartsfield (hamstring), LB Cory Littleton (groin), G Austin Corbett (knee)

Shenault practiced in a limited fashion with a hamstring injury on Wednesday and Thursday but fully participated on Friday. He totaled just one reception for eight yards against the Buccaneers in Week 7. With Robby Anderson now in Arizona, Shenault could make some noise alongside D.J. Moore at wide receiver.
