The Carolina Panthers got some better news on their Thursday injury report after multiple limited participants on Wednesday. However, one of their top running backs missed his second straight practice.

Chuba Hubbard was once again held out as he deals with an ankle injury after leaving last week’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He’s expected to play a big role in the backfield after Carolina traded Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers last week, and that proved true against Tampa Bay when he had nine carries for 63 yards and a touchdown.

In some good news, linebacker Frankie Luvu was among six Panthers upgraded to full participants in practice on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday. They’ll find out their game statuses on Friday before the Falcons come to town on Sunday.

Panthers Thursday injury report vs Falcons

Did not participate: DE Marquis Haynes (illness), RB Chuba Hubbard (ankle)

Hubbard and Haynes both missed practice for the second straight day, which creates some cause for concern heading into the final practice of the week on Friday. If Hubbard can’t go against Atlanta, D’Onta Foreman is likely to take a big share of the carries.

Limited participants: DT Daviyon Nixon (illness), WR Laviska Shenault (hamstring), S Sean Chandler (hamstring), DB Myles Hartsfield (hamstring), CB Jaycee Horn (ribs), LB Cory Littleton (groin), G Austin Corbett (knee)

Shenault was limited for the second straight day with a hamstring injury after totaling just one reception for eight yards against the Buccaneers. With Robby Anderson now in Arizona, Shenault could be looking to make some noise alongside D.J. Moore at wide receiver.

Full participants: OT Taylor Moton (illness), G Michael Jordan (personal), DT Matthew Ioannidis (concussion), CB Donte Jackson (ankle), LB Frankie Luvu (shoulder), LB Arron Mosby (hamstring)

Moton and Jordan both participated in full on Thursday, which is good news for an offensive line that’s already looking to fill a hole. Wednesday, the Panthers announced center Pat Elflein will undergo surgery after suffering a hip injury. He was recently added to the injury report and Bradley Bozeman appears primed to take over his spot in the starting lineup.
