Week 4 of the NFL season is upon us, with the Carolina Panthers set for a Sunday afternoon showdown against the Arizona Cardinals. It’s another matchup of former Oklahoma quarterbacks Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray, as both are now in the NFC. But for now, both teams are dealing with injuries heading into the game.

Carolina released their Thursday injury report, with some big names popping up just a few days before kickoff.

Christian McCaffrey biggest name in ‘DNP’ section

Three Panthers did not practice, with running back Christain McCaffrey being the biggest. He is dealing with a thigh injury that popped up on Wednesday. He was not a participant for the second day in a row, meaning his status against Arizona could be a concern.

It’s been a weekly occurrence that McCaffrey pops up on the injury report. Previous ones have been cautious but two consecutive days of not practicing is never a good sign.

Wide receiver Laviska Shenault, who was on Wednesday’s injury report as well, did not go on Thursday. The difference — Shenault was limited the day prior and took a step backward. The new Carolina Panther has a hamstring problem.

Defensive end Marquis Haynes was the final DNP, having a knee injury. He was added to this week’s injury report for the first time.

Four Carolina Panthers limited on Thursday

Four Carolina players were limited on Thursday, with three coming on the defensive end. Outside linebacker Frankie Luvu was the latest edition, with his injury being listed as a shoulder.

Tight end Ian Thomas, cornerback Stantley Oliver-Thomas, and safety Xavier Woods all remained limited on Thursday after being the same on Wednesday.

Jaycee Horn full participant

The most promising update from the injury report was on cornerback Jaycee Horn. A calf injury has been frustrating the former first-round pick and he was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday. One day later, Horn was a full participant and should be good to go against Arizona.

With a tough matchup coming against Kliff Kingsbury and the Cardinals’ high-powered offense, Horn will be a crucial player for the Panthers on Saturday.
