The Carolina Panthers released the Wednesday injury report ahead of a matchup in Los Angeles against the Rams. As expected, quarterback Baker Mayfield is on the report along with a bevy of other players.

Mayfield injured his ankle in a loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday and is expected to be out for a number of weeks. He accordingly did not practice on Wednesday. With Mayfield out, backup quarterback PJ Walker is in line to get the start on Sunday.

Along with Mayfield, four others did not practice for the Panthers on Wednesday. Running back Christian McCaffrey got the day off to rest, so there are no major concerns — though teams are making trade calls about him, reportedly.

Cornerback Jaycee Horn did not practice due to a rib injury. He left Sunday’s game against San Francisco with what was originally identified as a hip injury. Cornerback Stantley Thomas-Oliver was also a nonparticipant, dealing with a thigh injury carried over from last week. Wide receiver Laviska Shenault continues to not practice due to a hamstring injury after being held back last week.

Adding to the spate of defensive backfield injuries, as cornerback C.J. Henderson and safety Xavier Woods were both limited participants. Woods is working with a hamstring injury and Henderson is being ailed by his knee.

Tight end Stephen Sullivan was also limited with a back injury.

Linebacker Frankie Luvu and wide receiver D.J. Moore were both full participants on Wednesday as they deal with shoulder injuries, respectively.
