The Carolina Panthers are not done making moves. Earlier on Monday, it was announced that they were trading for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ third-year receiver Laviska Shenault. Later in the evening, the Panthers brokered another deal, this time with the Tennessee Titans. According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Carolina is packaging offensive lineman Dennis Daley and a 2024 seventh-round pick and shipping it to the Titans or a 2024 fifth-round pick.

Daley was the Panthers’ sixth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Despite being a late-round pick, he featured in a multitude of games for Carolina (34 in total) and has 21 starts under his belt over three years. Last season he played in 15 games and had nine starts. Of those nine starts, five were at left guard, and four at left tackle.

It is unclear why the Panthers made this move outside of the 53-man roster trim. But the trade of Daley could potentially carry significant ramifications. With the former South Carolina Gamecocks lineman’s departure, the Panthers are now down a vital plug-and-play offensive lineman with starting capability.

Panthers acquire wide receiver Laviska Shenault in trade with Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars are trading away former Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver Laviska Shenault to the Carolina Panthers. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the two sides agreed to a trade Monday afternoon.

The Jaguars selected Laviska Shenault in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, the former Buffalo struggled to carve out significant playing time in Jacksonville. It is more than understandable the struggles Shenault had in Jacksonville. In his two years there, he has played with a total of four different starting quarterbacks and three different head coaches. That includes Darrell Bevell, who took over for Urban Meyer after he was let go less than a season into his tenure last season. Over his first two years in Jacksonville, Shenault caught 121 passes for 1,219 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed 132 yards in 29 attempts.

The Panthers are taking a flyer out on the third-year player in hopes of adding some more firepower to their offense. Shenault joins a talented wide receiver room in Carolina that also includes D.J Moore, Robbie Anderson, and the Panthers’ second-round pick from the 2021 NFL Draft, Terrance Marshall.
