Spire Motorsports announced Tuesday that Carson Hocevar has signed a multiyear contract to drive the No. 77 Chevrolet full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series beginning in 2024.

“I understand that, with my agreement, Spire Motorsports have put out a press release late this evening that I am driving for them next year,” Hocevar wrote on X. “This is correct and I have signed a contract with Spire for 2024. I will be driving for Spire next year.”

Hocevar, 20, has competed in six Cup Series races this season — one for Spire Motorsports and five for Legacy Motor Club. He finished 36th at World Wide Technology Raceway piloting the No. 7 Chevrolet for Spire Motorsports and has recorded an average finish of 19.8 in five races behind the wheel of the No. 42 Chevrolet for Legacy Motor Club. His career-best 11th place finish came in the Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Hocever currently drives full-time in the Craftsman Truck Series for Niece Motorsports. He has picked up three victories this season and sits second in the playoff standings with two races remaining.

Carson Hocevar making adjustment to Next Gen car

Hocevar has credited his off-track work as a Next Gen car simulation driver for Chevrolet teams in helping make the transition to the Cup Series a bit easier.

“It’s similar to the truck,” Hocevar said Sept. 9 at Kansas Speedway, via NASCAR.com. “That helps, but it’s more [that] I just have a lot of sim time in this thing. I started sim when the car was first introduced… I’ve been driving sim since, so I’ve seen how these cars build and develop and I bring a little bit of knowledge of what a real winning car should feel like.

“And when I ran Spire, they gave me the full access to rebuild that car and Legacy has given me the same thing. So I don’t want to toot my own horn — I’m not smart or anything and know the springs and shocks and all the everything — but I know what it’s supposed to feel like and I feel like for me to come in and elevate programs and help, it is more rewarding than just driving.”
