The Commanders QB fractured a finger on his throwing hand during Washington’s 12-7 victory over the Chicago Bears last week, though he would finish the game and earn the win despite the low-scoring affair. Wentz finished 12 for 22 for 99 yards with no touchdowns, no interceptions and had a 66.3 passer rating.

Taylor Heinicke will start in his place. His first start of the season will come Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.

Russell Wilson out vs New York Jets, Brett Rypien to start for Denver Broncos

It hasn’t been the dream season Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos imagined, and it’s taken another unfortunate turn.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the former Super Bowl champion quarterback will be held out of this weekend’s game against the New York Jets with a lingering injury.

“While Russell Wilson wanted to play despite a hamstring injury and did everything he could to play, the Broncos HC Nathaniel Hackett will hold back the 9-time Pro Bowl QB vs. the Jets to allow him to heal and prevent a lingering injury, per sources,” tweeted Schefter. “Brett Rypien gets the start.”

While the Broncos started 2-1 on the season, the vibe has been far from fun surrounding the Broncos. Wilson hasn’t been his usual self, amassing only 1,442 passing yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions on the season thus far, and Denver has lost three straight.
