You can put Chase Elliott and Kyle Busch in the group that approves of rescheduling the Busch Light Clash. NASCAR‘s Most Popular Driver is all in on the recent decision. You won’t find too many complaints.

There are a lot of decisions NASCAR could have made. But rescheduling things for tonight is the best they could have done. Holding out for a three hour period of dry conditions over the next three days would be about as impossible as building a snowman on the equator.

Given the choice in front of them, make Sunday fans upset by moving it up or keep teams in Los Angeles until Tuesday or Wednesday, and try to get it done at some point over the next three days – it was simple. When given that choice, you have to do what is best for your teams.

Kyle Busch and Chase Elliott were both all for the change. So, it sounds like a popular decision among the entire garage, frankly.

“It’s one of the most logical decisions we’ve made as an industry, potentially ever,” Elliott said, via Jeff Gluck of The Athletic.

Rowdy was just as excited about the Busch Light Clash being moved up. The veteran driver tweeted out his thoughts on the matter.

“This is FANTASTIC!! Thanks to NASCAR and FOX for allowing this to happen!”

Both Chase Elliott and Kyle Busch are important voices in the garage. I’d say if they are fine with it, then it is a good decision all around. NASCAR fans and drivers have had issues in the past with similar decisions. However, this seems universally beloved.

Busch Light Clash moved up to Saturday night

When you are faced with rainfall that is expected to not just be great in volume, but also potentially life-threatening, decisions have to be made. California is going to be hit with rain, snow, and flooding, causing issues for many.

NASCAR saw the writing on the wall and made the best decision they could. So, tonight the Busch Light Clash will happen. Practice and qualifying are scheduled for 5:35 PM EST on FS1. Then the Clash will follow at 8:00 PM EST also on FS1.

Starting positions for the race will be based on the fastest single-lap speed for 22 drivers from the final practice session. Then a 23rd driver will be given a spot for being the highest points earner in 2023 not included in the top-22.

“Due to the incoming weather, the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum will run today, Saturday February 3, at 5 pm. Admission will remain free to the public with limited facilities available to fans today,” NASCAR said in a statement.

The NASCAR season is here one day sooner than we expected. Let’s see some racing, put on a great show for the fans there and at home, and have some fun. It should be a good show. Then, we can turn all of our attention towards the Daytona 500.
