Chiefs, Ravens meet with potential Cowboys draft target Quentin Johnston
The Dallas Cowboys are just one of many teams considering drafting receiver Quentin Johnston. The TCU product has been plenty busy this week, meeting with a new team each day so far.
That included a visit with the Cowboys on Tuesday. But according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Johnston also had meetings with the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens.
“He spent some time with a couple of receiver-needy teams,” Rapoport said in a Wednesday TV appearance. “The Chiefs on Monday. The Cowboys yesterday. Then mentioned the Baltimore Ravens. Of course, we’re always talking about receivers when it comes to the Ravens. He visited them today.”
Johnston is a projected first-round pick who finished with 60 catches for 1,069 yards and six touchdowns this past season as the Horned Frogs finished runner-up in the College Football Playoff. In addition to the teams mentioned above, he has also had meetings with the Titans, Patriots and Giants.
ESPN’s Todd McShay has the Patriots selecting Johnston with the No. 14 pick in his latest mock draft. That in mind, the Cowboys could be forced to trade up if they really want him.
Coming off of a Super Bowl victory, the Chiefs could use some help at receiver after losing JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman this offseason. They still have tight end Travis Kelce as well as Marquez Valdes-Scantling, but don’t be surprising if they grab Johnston if he is available at the end of the first round.
The Ravens also desperately need a receiver as they continue to work with quarterback Lamar Jackson on a new contract. Like Kansas City, they have a top tight end in Mark Andrews, but no receiver on their roster finished with more than 450 yards receiving in 2022. Baltimore owns the No. 22 pick, so it could snatch up Quentin Johnston before the Cowboys pick rolls around.
It’s also possible that Dallas looks to a different position with its first-round pick. The Cowboys already have CeeDee Lamb and traded for Brandin Cooks this offseason, so may feel confident waiting to take a receiver later on.
With show many teams showing interest, it will be intriguing to see where Johnston falls when the NFL Draft begins on April 27.

Johnston impressed pro scouts, including some from the Cowboys, at TCU’s Pro Day last week by running a 4.5-second 40-yard dash and showing off his pass-catching skills. After that performance, he took time for an interview to explain what he can bring to the NFL.
“I’m a 6-3, 6-4 receiver that’s able to create real separation at the top of my routes, in and out of my breaks and yards after catch is top tier,” Johnston said of what makes him elite. “I’ve set records in the Big 12 for most of my first and second year combined. I feel like [I’m a] big [target] when I’m at the top of my route and [in] the deep route, I’m real good as well.”
