Making the transition from college starter to NFL quarterback can be a tough one to make. So when Houston Texans’ rookie gunslinger C.J. Stroud gets advice from the likes of Joe Burrow and Tom Brady, he listens.

Joining the Pat McAfee Show this week, Stroud revealed that he’s received advice from both the current Bengals star and the seven-time Super Bowl champion. So, already, the former Ohio State standout is learning from the best.

“I was around Joe Burrow and I got to talk to him the whole time. Gave me a lot of great feedback, a lot of advice,” Stroud said. “For him, being a former Buckeye, going to LSU and then being the first pick in the draft, he understands right where I’m at now. He gave me a lot of great advice.

“And I actually got to talk to Tom Brady. … For me, I’m just trying to be a sponge. Soak every ounce of knowledge and wisdom so I don’t have to learn the hard way and learn from their mistake to help my game so I can be better.”

Stroud made an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show after leading the Texans to an impressive 30-6 win over the Steelers in Week 4. He completed 16-of-30 passes for 306 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the victory.

Houston has now won back-to-back games in blowout fashion. The Texans looked strong in a 37-17 win over Jacksonville in Week 3. In that game, the rookie quarterback threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns while completing 20-of-30 throws.

While the Texans may have got off to a bit of a bumpy start, it seems that Stroud is putting the advice he received from Burrow and Brady to good use in recent weeks. Houston sits at 2-2 with a game against Atlanta on the horizon.

C.J. Stroud remains interception free

It’s hard to believe any quarterback in the NFL can make it through four games without an interception. That feat is even more impressive if it comes from a rookie quarterback.

That’s the case for Stroud, who has gone through his first four games without tossing a single pick. He has six touchdown throws while the Texans own a 2-2 record heading into Week 5.

And it’s not like the Texans have been conservative with their rookie quarterback. Stroud has thrown 151 passes, completing 62.3% of his throws for 1,212 yards.

Can he keep a zero in the interception column again this week against the Falcons?
