The Cleveland Browns unveiled its new-look alternative uniform, with a glistening helmet, Tuesday. And there’s something definitely missing from their normal look.

It’s the orange. And it’s the helmet. For three games this NFL season, the Browns will wear a mostly white uniform with a white helmet. The orange helmets will stay in storage. It’s the first time that players will wear a non-orange helmet in more than 70 years.

The Browns posted a photo and captioned it “Bright whites under the bright lights.” Cleveland will sport the new look in a Monday Night Football game on the road against the Steelers, Sept 18. Then the team will unpack them again for a game against the 49ers (Oct. 15). They’ll trot out the bright whites a third time, wearing them against the Jets (Dec. 28).

Browns picked white helmets as a throwback to honor past

The Browns said that they will wear an all-white uniform with the white helmet combo for the first time in team history. The white uniforms aren’t new. The team wore them in 2021. The white helmet is what makes the difference in this ‘fit.

And here’s a closer look at the helmets.

The Browns did the big reveal on Tuesday as the team readies for training camp, July 22. Cleveland gets an earlier start time for training camp because the Browns are playing the Jets in the Hall of Fame game, Aug. 3.

“We’re super fired up and really excited to have this opportunity to wear an alternate helmet,” said Cleveland’s Executive VP JW Johnson. “We decided to go with the white helmet for a couple reasons — it harkens back to our past, and a lot of our greatest players wore white helmets. We also heard from our fans that it was the direction they wanted. (And) we always want to continue having great fan interaction and deliver for them as much as we possibly can.”
